Most insurers require certain standard of lock fitted to your home or premises 
before they will insure you. The most common type of request is for British standard locks to be fitted.
British standard locks will have a kite mark and the numbers bs3621 on them. You may get numbers like BS3621- 2004 or BS3621 -1980
These numbers indicate the date of british standard the lock was tested to ie BS3621 -2004 is the standard set in the year 2004.
It is always best to speak to your insurers before getting any work done as each insurer has slightly different requirements.
Some insurers also insist on window locks or extra door bolts so it is best to get them to send you a letter of exactly what it is they want. This allows us to make sure we fit exactly the right products they require for your peace of mind.
